In the IPL 2025, RCB started a new era under Rajat Patidar’s leadership, and the beginning couldn’t be better than this. After Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi Capitals in the last game, Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured their place in the playoffs.

Before stepping into the next glorious chapter of the tournament, former RCB star AB de Villiers steps up with valuable advice, reflecting on hard-earned lessons from past heartbreaks.

ABD’s Advice Ahead Of The Playoffs

Aiming for their long-awaited dream of securing their maiden IPL trophy, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru are shining with their promising form. As they have already secured the playoff spot but the injury scare has been a massive concern. Ahead of that, AB de Villiers has come up with some advice.

Even after retiring from the game, AB de Villiers’ relationship with the RCB and fans remained the same. With the team chasing glory, he’s warned players to stay injury-free and be battle-ready for the crucial matches ahead.

“First of all, most importantly, just stay fit. Please, these injury scares are killing me. Really, like stop that now, all of you RCB players, get fit, stay fit, because I feel this is a great opportunity for us to go all the way this season. There’s momentum, there’s confidence, there’s a Virat Kohli, there’s an in-form team. Just stay on the park, please, people,” de Villiers said.

Learnings From Previous Heartbreaks

In the history of the tournament, RCB has suffered some unfortunate heartbreaks. The final defeat in 2016 is still standing among the first. As the team secured a playoff spot again, he warned the side with some lessons. He reminds the squad that even the smallest mistakes can lead to the biggest heartbreaks, urging them to stay sharp when it matters most.

“I mean, I can go back through all the knockouts and all the disappointments in my career, there were pivotal moments. Sometimes, still at night, I think of one or two games and I go like, ‘Ah, that was the moment.’ You didn’t realize it at the time, but always in hindsight, you look back and you go, ‘That was the moment.’ And it was so unpredictable, no one saw it coming,” he said.

“There was a stop in the field, or a no-ball at the wrong time, or a batter deciding to go from fifth gear to second gear just for a brief moment and then fire again. Little things like that. That will be my advice. Stay calm, use all the resources of the team the momentum, the confidence you’ve built throughout this season, and take that to those big moments. And go and win those big moments for the team all right,” he added.

Even though the Royal Challengers Bengaluru have secured their place in the playoffs, they still have two games left in the group stage. On May 23, they will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last home match of the season.
