Fake News Alert! BCCI Denies India's Rumoured Withdrawal From Asia Cup 2025

In a interesting development regarding India's participation in Asia Cup 2025, BCCI secretary has denied reports of their withdrawal from the continental cup. According to ANI, Devajit Saikia has cleared that BCCI has not discussed or written to anyone regarding the future of Asia Cup and the focus currently is on IPL and England tour.

BCCI Secretary Clears Rumours Around Asia Cup 2025

Indian Express earlier reported that BCCI is planning to withdraw from Asia Cup 2025 due to the tensions between India and Pakistan. However, BCCI secretary has now stated that there is no truth behind such news, and thus, India can still participate in Asia Cup 2025.

"Since this morning, it has come to our notice about some news reports that the BCCI has decided not to participate in the Asia Cup and the Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup, both of which are ACC (Asian Cricket Council) events. Such news are devoid of any truth as till now. BCCI has not even discussed or taken any such steps regarding the ensuing ACC events, let alone writing anything to the ACC. At this stage, our prime focus is on the ongoing IPL and subsequent England series, both men's and women's, " BCCI Secretary to ANI.

India is scheduled to host the 17th edition of the Asia Cup and are the defending champions. As of now, there will be eight teams participating in the tournament, and earlier it was reported that all Pakistan matches would be held outside India. Currently, Pakistan's Interior Minister,  Mohsin Naqvi is the Chairman of Asian Cricket Council and thus, there are likely to be more complications while deciding the future of Asia Cup 2025.
