The much-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy is all set to start from 22nd of November and the first Test will be played at the Optus Stadium in Perth. India will be without their regular skipper Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah will be leading the Test side for the second time in his career.
Now, in the pre-match press conference, Jasprit Bumrah came up with pretty interesting answers to varied questions and one of them was on India's combination and inclusion of Mohammed Shami in India's squad. Bumrah stated that they have finalised their combination for the first Test, but they will reveal it on the morning of the game.
Bumrah Emphasises On Shami's Importance In Indian Team
On Shami, Jasprit Bumrah mentioned that he is an important part of the Indian team and team management is keeping a close eye on his progress. He added that if Shami continues to show progress, he might be added to the squad for the BGT soon.
"We have finalised our combination. You'll come to know it tomorrow. Shami has been an integral part and the management is keeping a close eye. If everything goes well, you might see him here as well."
Mohammed Shami recently made his comeback to competitive cricket with a Ranji game between Bengal and Madhya Pradesh. He displayed great fitness and skills in that game and bagged seven wickets in the game. The veteran also bowled more than 40 overs and scored vital runs with the bat in the second innings. He is now being included in Bengal's squad for Syed Mushtaq Ali as well and his experience would be crucial for India as they try to score a hattrick of series win against Australia in Kangaroos den.
