Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan believes that if Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) manages to clinch the IPL title in 2024, it will mark the "biggest moment" in the history of the T20 league. Reflecting on RCB's past endeavors, Pathan emphasized the significance of their potential triumph.

"2016 was a very special season for him and RCB. I thought that was the year to win. If Virat Kohli and RCB win the title, that will be the biggest moment of IPL history, not just RCB history," Pathan remarked.

The 2016 season indeed stands out in RCB's journey, particularly due to Kohli's extraordinary performance. Kohli, then leading RCB, amassed a record-breaking 973 runs in a single edition of the tournament, showcasing exceptional consistency and skill.

Despite Kohli's heroics, RCB fell short in the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad, losing by a margin of 8 runs. Pathan reminisced about the team's near-victory, highlighting the excitement and disappointment of that memorable encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Since Kohli's relinquishment of the captaincy before the 2022 season, RCB has undergone changes in leadership, with Faf du Plessis assuming the role. However, their performance in the previous year's IPL saw them finishing sixth, failing to secure a playoff berth.
