'If Mahi Bhai Saw Your Bowling Tonight...,' - Raina Pulls Dube's Leg In A Funny Conversation

Suresh Raina pulled Shivam Dube's leg while encouraging the Indian cricketer on the bowling front after his impressive little burst on a flat pitch in Mohali during Thursday's (January 11) opening T20I versus Afghanistan.

In an amusing conversation that took place after Dube's all-round game helped India take a 1-0 lead over the tourists, Raina reckoned the Mumbaikar could be in for more workload with the ball come the IPL 2024 as he foresaw his legendary Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni providing him with more overs.

Dube then joined in the fun and requested his CSK captain to listen to the franchise's former vice-captain and his dear friend after being mainly confined to a spin hitter's job in the middle overs for the five-time champions.

Dube, Raina's 'Dhoni' Remark In Funny Conversation

Interacting after the match for host broadcaster 'Sports18', Raina felt impressed by Dube's tight spell of 1/9 off 2 overs in the first half, where he helped India restrict Afghanistan to 158, and told his ex-CSK teammate that his extra overs with CSK now look "fixed".

To which Dube also brought Dhoni into the picture and urged his skipper, if watching, to pay heed to the words of his former deputy and longstanding friend.

"If Mahi bhai saw your bowling tonight then your 3 overs are fixed for CSK this season (laughs)," said Raina. Before Dube added, "Mahi bhai please listen to Raina bhai (smiles)."

Dube, who was dropped from T20Is in South Africa without clarity after being carried through on the bench during the previous series at home versus Australia, made a valiant comeback to Indian colours in the absence of premier allrounder Hardik Pandya.

Relishing a promotion up the order at No. 4, the left-hander played a brilliant knock of 60 not out off 40 deliveries during the run-chase and was awarded the 'Player of the Match' for his overall exploits on the night.
