Suresh Raina raised eyebrows of cricket lovers in India on Saturday (December 23) as he indirectly hinted he could be joining Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as their new team mentor ahead of the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stalwart, who retired from IPL cricket after the league's 2022 edition, could be replacing his ex India teammate Gautam Gambhir after he left the Lucknow franchise following a two-year stint as an influential mentor and joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the same capacity.

Being the mighty popular Uttar Pradesh lad, speculations have been rife that Raina could be the new face of the Lucknow franchise in a mentorship job.

Raina To Join LSG As New Mentor?

Raina fuelled the fire this weekend when he gave an interesting response to a reputed journalist on Twitter after the latter denounced the suggestion by a fan of the former joining the LSG set-up.

The interaction came to light on Saturday afternoon when the journalist tried to rubbish a claim made by a fan on Twitter that he understands Raina is about to sign up with the Lucknow IPL franchise for a mentorship role.

Quoting the fan, the journalist called it an absolutely fake news. But just when fans were taking the journalist's words on board and accepting Raina isn't signing up with the Lucknow franchise, the cricketer himself shut him up by stating he isn't always right.

Raina indicated he could indeed be joining the Lucknow franchise as a team mentor for IPL 2024 with the Gambhir spot in the support staff still vacant for the side undergoing a coaching transition under new head Justin Langer.
