The bromance between Kane Williamson and Babar Azam in recent times off the field in New Zealand has left many cricket fans awestruck. However, the New Zealand skipper left many of Babar’s fans disappointed, and that eventually led the Men in Green to suffer a 46-run defeat against the Kiwis in the first T20I of the five-match series on Friday (January 12) at Eden Park, Auckland.

Williamson, who came to bat first earlier, scored 57 off 42 balls with the help of nine fours. Babar made exactly the same run, albeit seven balls fewer, before Williamson’s excellent fielding effort ensured his knock’s end.

Chasing a gigantic 227-run target, Babar had to swing hard to get the job done. His brisk knock even took the equation to 68 off 30 balls, before he attacked a pitched-up delivery off Ben Sears to play over the cover region.

Placed at cover, Williamson kept his calm and took a brilliant catch without any hiccups.

Before Babar’s departure, Pakistan were 173/6 after 16.1 overs. After that, they folded out for 180 in 18 overs in reply of New Zealand’s 226/8. Tim Southee was New Zealand’s pick of the bowler, claiming 4/25 off his four overs.
