Recently, in the shortest format of the game, young Australian batter Mitchell Owen is making waves with his exceptional form. His standout performances in the T20 leagues left fans and selectors impressed, earning him a maiden T20I call-up for Australia’s upcoming series against the West Indies.

As the first T20I match of the series is set to take place on July 21, Mitchell Owen is ready for the challenges. Ahead of the match, he expressed his readiness to bat anywhere in the lineup and make a valuable contribution to the team.

Owen Is Ready To Embrace Every Opportunity

In recent times, Australia has produced another exciting cricket talent as young batter Mitchell Owen is grabbing attention with his exceptional batting brilliance. In the Big Bash League, he scored 452 runs in 11 innings. This included an impressive century off just 39 balls in the final, which stole the spotlight. His strong performance continued in MLC 2025, where he won the Most Valuable Player award after scoring 313 runs in 11 innings.

After a string of exceptional performances, he earned his maiden Australia call-up for the upcoming T20 series against the West Indies. As quoted by Fox Sports, Owen credited his past experiences for shaping his game and said he feels confident and ready to take on the challenges ahead.

“All that experience has made me quite clear on my game plan, and that breeds a bit of confidence. If given the opportunity, I’m good to go and ready to go,” Owen said.

The Youngster Is Set To Shine Anywhere In The Order

Although Mitchell Owen starred as an opener in the recent BBL and MLC, he might not find that role in the Australian lineup, with Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh, and Jake Fraser-McGurk already at the top. While asking about this, he said that he is ready to make his mark in any position in the batting order.

“Looking at the top order and the talent and the skill and the experience that we have there, if I’m given an opportunity, I don’t care where it is, I’m just happy to be playing for this team,” he said.

“I had a little bit of experience at the PSL batting down at No. 6 or No. 7. Like I said, I’m just happy to be getting a game,” he added.

After a dominating victory in the three-match Test series, Australia is all set to face the West Indies in a five-match T20I series. The action kicks off on July 21 at Sabina Park, promising an electrifying start to the series.
