Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar heaped massive praise on Shubman Gill for his exceptional performance on the ongoing England tour. Gill has been the backbone of India's batting unit, leading the visiting team by example through a string of stunning outings.

Gill Receives Huge Applause From Tendulkar

Shubman Gill has been exemplary as a batter and a captain in the Test series against England. Apart from scoring a truckload of runs, Gill led India to a historic win in the Birmingham Test, their first-ever at the iconic Edgbaston.

Sachin Tendulkar, who was present at the venue during the inauguration of his portrait in the Lord's long room, reckoned that calm and composed decision-making has been a hallmark of Gill's astute leadership.

Regarded as the God of Cricket, Tendulkar also explained how Gill's red-hot batting form has given him the much-needed confidence, leading to his prolific success in his very first assignment as the Indian Test captain.

“He's been good. He's very calm and composed. I strongly believe in how the rest of the 10 players react to what he is doing and the decisions he is making, which have been measured decisions, very thought of," Tendulkar was quoted as saying by The Hindustan Times.
"And his batting is complementing that as well, because if a captain is in good form, it makes a huge difference in the decision-making. You need to be in the right frame of mind to make those important calls. He's been batting brilliantly. As an opposition, you normally look for the weak areas in the batting and technique, but he has been batting remarkably and has been special,” he added.

Talking about the third Test, England, after opting to bat first, lost the prized wickets of Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, courtesy of Nitish Reddy's first-over masterclass. However, Joe Root and Ollie Pope avoided any further hiccups, with the hosts powering themselves to 83 for two at lunch on day 1.
