Jonny Bairstow Honoured For Landmark Achievement In Dharamsala
The English wicketkeeper batter got the Silver Cap from the ECB to honour his landmark of playing 100 Test matches. Bairstow played his 100th Test match against India at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala in 2024. He did not play a Test for England since then, and now, ahead of the game against the same opponent, the ECB decided to felicitate him at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground.
In total, only 17 players have played 100 Test matches for England, with Graham Thorpe and Andrew Strauss playing exactly 100 games, like Jonny Bairstow. James Anderson has played 188 matches, which is the most for England in the longest format, and Bairstow would be hoping to add some more games to his CV.
Jonny Bairstow Out Of International Cricket Since 2024
Overall, Jonny Bairstow has scored 6042 runs in Test cricket at an average of 36.39 with 12 hundreds and 26 fifties. The right-handed wicketkeeper batter could not get a single score in excess of 50 during his last Test series and has been subsequently replaced by Jamie Smith.
The young wicketkeeper has performed well in his brief career, and with Bairstow moving towards the second half of his 30s, it would be tough for him to make a comeback. In recent times, Bairstow has also lost his place in the white-ball squads and played his last international game in the T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal against India.
Overall, Jonny Bairstow has served England for more than a decade, and this felicitation at the Lord's is a fitting tribute to his contribution. He is still playing domestic cricket and also was part of Mumbai Indians' squad during the playoffs of IPL 2025.
