Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar, who recently made a comeback to the national T20I squad after overcoming injury setbacks, is eyeing a stint in Test cricket. Chahar, known for his white-ball prowess, aims to dispel the notion that he's primarily a limited-overs bowler.

With more than 130 wickets in 47 first-class Test matches, he exudes confidence in adapting to the red-ball format.

Here's What Deepak Chahar Told Jio Cinema:

"There is preparation involved in everything we do. If you look at it, my preparation was good for the Ranji Trophy and also for the IPL (last season). I will not be able to play a Test match if I am suddenly informed that I'll play a Test. For that matter, no one else probably can. If I am told one month in advance, then I'll prepare accordingly. I will increase my workload accordingly. I have the swing, I have the ideas, it's just that I'll need a month to prepare. I would love to play Tests for India."

Chahar's journey back to the national team faced hurdles, including a back injury that kept him out of the 2022 IPL and the T20 World Cup. Despite a hamstring injury in the IPL 2023, he made a significant impact for the Chennai Super Kings, showcasing his ability to swing the new ball.

The pacer's commitment to fitness and adaptability paid off when he was called up as a replacement for Mukesh Kumar. Chahar's impressive performance in the IPL, coupled with his success in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, positions him well for contention in the T20 World Cup squad.

Renowned as a swing bowler, Chahar's hard work on variations has gained the trust of captains like MS Dhoni, who relies on him to deliver crucial breakthroughs, even at the death. The upcoming South Africa series might witness Chahar's red-ball debut, marking a new chapter in his already inspiring cricketing journey.
