Pakistan captain Babar Azam has confirmed he will be batting at the number 3 position in the upcoming series against England starting tomorrow, as well as in the T20 World Cup.

Since the ODI World Cup, there have been significant changes for Pakistan. Babar Azam was initially removed as T20 captain and replaced by Shaheen Afridi, but he was reinstated as captain as the World Cup approached. 

Pakistan team was having no head coach for long time and recently former Indian coach Gary Kirsten was appointed head coach after extensive discussions.

Babar's batting order has also been adjusted. It was initially planned for Babar to open with Saim Ayub and Rizwan to bat at 3. However, in the recent series against Ireland, it was Saim Ayub and Rizwan who opened for Pakistan.

Babar confirms he will bat at number 3

In the press conference ahead of the three-match T20 series against England starting tomorrow, Babar Azam clarified that he will most likely be batting at number 3.

 Previously, Babar had expressed his reluctance to bat at number 3 in the shorter format, but with the arrival of Saim Ayub, either Babar or Rizwan had to adjust their position. In the end Babar decide to bat at number 3 for the national team.

During the PSL season, Babar Azam and Saim Ayub opened the innings for Peshawar Zalmi.

Babar Azam led Pakistan is in the group of India in T20 World Cup. Pakistan will face India on June 9th.
