'I Try To Emulate Chahal': India's U-19 Star Draws Inspiration From Ex-RR Ace Spinner

Young Indian leg-spinner Chandni Sharma is grabbing the spotlight for her call-up in the Under-19 A team. Chandni is all set to feature in the triangular series against South Africa and India B. In a recent interaction, the young Indian bowler refers Yuzvendra Chahal as her inspiration.

In the next month, a thrilling triangular series is loading. India U-19 A, India U-19 B, and South Africa U-19 A teams are all set to lock horns with each other. Ahead of the series, the Women Selection Committee announced the squad. Young Indian bowler Chandni Sharma has been included in the India Under-19 A team. As per a recent report, she named legendary Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal as her inspiration.

Yuzvendra Chahal Inspires Young Chandni

Indian women’s cricket is all set to enjoy another thrilling series. The under-19 players were divided into two teams and set to take part in the triangular series. An 18-year-old leg-spinner Chandni Sharma who hails from Lucknow named Yuzvendra Chahal as her inspiration.

“I try to emulate Chahal’s bowling and admire how Rohit handles pressure. I hope to perform well and make my family and coaches proud.” Chandni said.

She features in 9 under-19 league matches for Uttar Pradesh and secured 19 games. With her techniques and wicket-taking abilities, selectors were impressed and received the maiden call-up.

Struggle Empowered Chandni

Chandni’s journey to the India Under-19 Women A team was not easy. Depending on his hard work and determination, she fulfilled her dream. The young girl showcased enthusiasm in the game from a very young age. In her journey, his father played a crucial role. While struggling financially, her father pushed her towards her dream. She also thanked her coaches for their help in her struggling days.

“My father couldn’t afford the academy fees, but he never held me back. When he approached the coaches at the Northern Railway Stadium, he told them he couldn’t pay but wanted me to learn cricket. My coaches, Priyanka Shaili and Saima Ali, have been a tremendous help since then.” Chandni said.
