The IPL retentions are done and dusted and for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), it was a good event as they have retained the core of the side and head into the mega auction with a purse of INR 69 crore as they aim to win their maiden IPL title.
The Lucknow based franchise decided to make Nicholas Pooran their top retention as the explosive batter was retained at a whopping price of INR 21 crore. Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Ayush Badoni and Mohsin Khan were the other retained players as the franchise looks a settled unit.
Perhaps the biggest news of the auction was the exclusion of former LSG skipper, KL Rahul. The captain of the side was released by the owners, citing his poor strike-rate. However, as per reports, Pooran will take over the captaincy mantle as the side looks for a revamp.
In an exclusive interview with RevSportz, Pooran, the top retained LSG player spoke about his mindset in a T20 game and how he feels when he smacks bowlers for three sixes in a row, indirectly giving warning to the other IPL sides.
"When I hit sixes I like the fear in the bowler's eyes," Pooran said in an interview with RevSportz.
Former skipper KL Rahul slammed by LSG owner
The former LSG captain, KL Rahul had a beef with team owner, Sanjiv Goenka and it resulted din his outcast from the side. As per reports, KL Rahul left LSG due to personal and professional reasons, but after the retention list was out, team owner, Sanjiv Goenka took a dig at the batter.
"We wanted to retain players with the mindset to win, who would put the team winning above their personal aspirations."
The two had an altercation during an IPL match in the 2024 season, but that issue was resolved as the two shared heartwarming pictures afterwards.
