The India A side have been dismal in the ongoing unofficial Test match against the Australia A side. The visitors lacked the cutting edge in the first innings and got bundled out for a paltry 107. The Aussies were on top and the Indian side needed a miracle to crawl back in the contest.
The miracle was provided by speedster Mukesh Kumar, who bagged a 6-wicket haul to give India A a small ray of hope.
Mukesh ran riot Vs Australia A
In reply, Australia ended Day 1 on 99/4, with Mukesh dismissing Aussie opener, Sam Konstas for duck. He followed it up with the big scalp of the dangerous Cameron Bancroft and ended the day with the wicket of Beau Webster as the Australian side were kept on the back-foot.
On the morning of Day 2 with the conditions suiting the seam bowlers, Mukesh ran riot and picked up the wicket of Cooper Connolly. Before the wicket, Connolly had added 51 runs for the fifth wicket alongside Nathan McSweeney.
The Bengal pacer then scalped Josh Philippe and further damaged the Australian side by cleaning up Brendan Doggett as the home side got knocked out for 195 runs. However, despite Mukesh's efforts, the hosts have a strong 88-run lead.
In their second innings, India lost the early wickets of Abhimanyu Easwaran and Ruturaj Gaikwad, but the duo of Sai Sudharsan and Devdutt Padikkal have taken the score to 159/2 as India A lead by 71 runs.
The danger is still not over as India A will need to bat out of their skin to produce a result against a strong Australian side.
