Recent remarks from Australia have raised concerns about cricket's integrity, with Australian player Hazlewood suggesting that Australia might consider compromising to eliminate England from the T20 World Cup.

However, England coach Matthew Mott, who is himself Australian, believes that Hazlewood or Australia would not engage in such actions.

After securing a victory against Namibia, Australia has confirmed their presence in the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup, while England, with a loss and a game washed out, currently trails behind Scotland in the points table.

England needs to win their remaining games and hope for Australia to defeat their rivals by a significant margin. However, if Australia were to compromise with Scotland, it could potentially aid Scotland in qualifying over England based on net run rate.

Mott not worried about Hazlewood's comments

Josh Hazlewood and former Australian test captain Tim Paine made similar statements, causing ripples in the cricket world.

Mott, an Australian who coached Hazlewood during their time together at New South Wales, didn't take these comments seriously.

"I think I know Josh pretty well and I know his integrity. He’s got a very good sense of humor. I am hoping it was very much tongue in cheek. I actually don’t think it is ever going to play out. Having grown up in Australia, and the will to win every game, I am sure they will come to the fore. I am very much hoping it was an offhand remark by a really good bloke who is having fun."-Mott said.

Hazlewood's remarks have placed Australia in a challenging position,  conflicting with the International Cricket Council's rulebook.
