One of India's most talented cricketers, Sanju Samson finds himself away from the field, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opting to play youngsters in the ongoing T20I series against Australia.

The last few months for Samson have been quite tough with selectors not picking the wicketkeeper-batter for Asia Cup 2023, Asian Games 2022, and World Cup 2023, which has caused great unrest amongst fans.

The Rajasthan Royals captain, who is quite soft-spoken, has in an interview with Dhanya Varma on the latter's YouTube opened up on Indian captain Rohit Sharma.

Sanju, who rose to fame with stellar performances for RR in the Indian Premier League (IPL) stated how Sharma has supported the Pulluvila-born until now, despite being a heavy scorer against Mumbai Indians.

Here's what Samson said

"Rohit Sharma was the first or second person who came to me and talked. He told me 'hey Sanju, wassup. You performed well in the IPL, but hit too many sixes against Mumbai Indians. You bat really well. I had great support from him".

In the limited chances for India, the 29-year-old has amassed 764 runs in 13 ODIs and 24 T20Is, respectively. Samson, who is Royals' current captain has played 152 IPL matches since 2013 and scored 3,888 runs which include three centuries and 20 half-centuries.

Several reports have suggested that Samson remains in Team India's plans moving forward, but the selectors are keen to test the bench strenght for now.
