In the thrilling encounter between India and England on the first day of the Test match at Ranchi, Akash Deep, the debutant for the Indian team, found himself reflecting on the intense day of cricket.

A day that was full of ups and downs, first saw India dominate during the first session, however, the sand slowly slipped away towards England as we saw Joe Root hit a remarkable century at the Ranchi pitch.

Here's what he said:

"We talked a lot heading into the game. It was about executing the plans. I don’t know what I have done but the only thing I kept on thinking was that every match I played, it was my last."

Reflecting on his bowling performance, Akash Deep acknowledged the adjustments needed for international cricket, "In domestic cricket, our lengths are a bit fuller. But the coaches here and Bumrah also told me that you have to bowl a bit shorter."

Despite his mixed emotions, Akash Deep remained focused on the team's performance showing such selflessness and accountability and said:

"I felt sad not because it was my first international cricket. I felt sad because they were playing really well and I felt my team shouldn’t pay much because of my no-ball. As the wicket dried up and the ball got softer, it became good for batting. We have to focus on our lines and lengths while bowling tomorrow."

The first session of Day 2, would truly be an important one as India would look to dominate right through the start.
