India's young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal shared his genuine gratitude and excitement for the incredible opportunity to play alongside the legendary Virat Kohli right from the start of his promising cricketing journey.

Following the first day of the second Test against West Indies, Jaiswal showered praise on Kohli's batting brilliance, referring to him as a true legend, and feeling truly blessed to share the cricket field with such an iconic figure.

The young opener spoke highly of Kohli's mentorship, both on and off the pitch, acknowledging the immense wisdom and valuable life lessons he has gained from the former India captain.

"It is truly awe-inspiring to witness him bat. What more can I say? He is a living legend. I feel blessed to be part of the same team as him. There is so much to learn from him, not just in cricket but also in life. I try to absorb every bit of knowledge by engaging with him,"  Yashasvi Jaiswal shared with reporters after the day's play.

In the gripping contest against West Indies, India launched an impressive start with Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma's phenomenal 139-run opening partnership. However, in the second session on Day 2, Jaiswal's innings was curtailed at 57 runs by the skillful bowling of Jason Holder.

Despite the disappointment of narrowly missing another century, Jaiswal embraced a positive mindset, seeking to extract valuable insights from each experience and contribute further to the team's triumphs.

"Of course, I am disappointed. It's a part of cricket. I just need to keep learning and strategizing for my next innings. I always try to ensure that I bat for as long as possible, and undoubtedly, getting out brings disappointment. However, I view it as a learning opportunity. My constant aim is to perform well for the team. Whenever I step onto the field, I carry the same mindset. Representing my country is an absolute pleasure,"  he added.

In the ongoing second Test against West Indies at the Queen's Park Oval, India asserted their dominance on Day 1. Opening the batting, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma forged a formidable 139-run partnership, but West Indies managed to strike back with couple of quick wickets, reducing India to 182/4.

Yet, the resilient duo of Virat Kohli (87*) and Ravindra Jadeja (36*) resuscitated India's innings, forging a high-quality partnership for the fifth wicket, taking India to a commanding total of 288/4 by stumps.
