[Watch] Sunil Narine’s Magic Delivery Dismisses Matthew Short in MLC 2023

In a crucial match against the Washington Freedom, Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) led by skipper Sunil Narine, witnessed a brilliant moment when Narine's classic off-spinner dismissed the in-form batter, Matthew Short.

The Washington team began their chase of 176 with a strong start, as their opening batters, Matthew Short and Andries Gous, scored 74 runs in the powerplay. LAKR bowlers struggled, and it seemed like Washington was on the path to victory. 

However, in a twist of events, Narine's last ball of the 13th over proved to be the turning point. He delivered a deceptive off-spinner, and Matthew Short, attempting to defend, missed the ball, resulting in the disturbance of the bails. Short's brisk knock came to an end, and Narine celebrated a significant wicket.

Interestingly, it was the first time Narine had bowled to Matthew Short in his illustrious T20 career.

The dismissal injected life into the seemingly one-sided game, with the Washington-based team needing 42 runs to win off seven overs. Despite Short's departure, Washington Freedom managed to reach the target with relative ease, securing a six-wicket victory with 11 balls to spare. 

Batting first, LA Knight Riders posted a competitive total of 175, majorly powered by an explosive innings from all-rounder Andre Russell, who scored 70 runs off 37 deliveries. Russell's remarkable performance earned him the player of the match award.

Currently, LAKR sits at the bottom of the points table with no hopes of qualifying for the playoffs. In their last fixture, led by Sunil Narine, they will face the Seattle Orcas at the same venue on Sunday, July 23.
