It was a decent start for Pakistan in their mega-clash against India in the World Cup 2023, but a sudden collapse in the middle, where they lost eight wickets for 36 runs, got them bowled out for just 191. It was primarily due to the bowlers' effort that Pakistan were ceased to below par total admitted skipper Rohit Sharma after the game.

Sharma reckoned that this pitch was definitely not the one with 190 odd runs as he expected them to at least score above 280. However, due to the significant effort of the bowlers who demolished the middle-order in a hurry, the visitors were left stranded as Rohit mentioned that he is proud of his side for such an effort.

"The bowlers were the ones today as well who set the game up for us. I don't think it was a 190 pitch. At one stage, we were looking at 280. The way they showed grit says a lot. That is something we pride ourselves in. Whoever gets the ball does the job. We've got 6 individuals who can do the job with the ball. My job as a captain is important there as well. It's to read the conditions and figure out who's the right guy to do the job."

Speaking on the batting positions in the side, the captain, who scored 86 during the 192-run chase, revealed that they had every idea about who will bat where in the batting order, thanks to the runs they all have scored building upto this World Cup.

"It's only because the guys - before entering the WC - they got a lot of runs. We were very clear what we wanted to do. Didn't want to be in two minds about who's going to bat where. All in all, it's looking good."

On India's biggest hurdle in the tournament, i.e. Pakistan, Rohit expressed his calmness over the matter by saying that they want to stay humble with this win and not want to over-exaggerate it.

"Want to keep my fingers crossed. Don't want to get too excited. Don't want to get two low as well. Want to stay balanced. Keep calm and keep moving forward. Every opposition we come up against are all quality. You have to play well on that particular day, and that's what we're looking at."

India finished the game with ease within 30.3 overs and seven wickets remaining as after Rohit's blitz, Shreyas Iyer rocked Pakistan with an unbeaten half-century to take the side to the top of the table.
