It was an intense few months for both Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq, who have had a serious face-off in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year, after which the cold war between them started on social media. However, during the World Cup 2023 clash between India and Afghanistan, everything was put to rest when they ended their battle with a nice hug.

During the calm moment between the two, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir was on Hindi commentary with Jatin Sapru, who discussed the rights and wrongs of the battle between them.

Gambhir was clear about his ideology and backed Naveen by mentioning that it is a player's responsibility to stand for himself and his side without worrying about his status or other person's.

"You always fight on the ground, not outside the ground. Every player has the responsibility to fight for his team, for his respect and for his team's victory. It does not matter which country you are from, or what level of player you are because you first fight for the team, then self-respect, then the win and then you fight for the dressing room, it doesn't matter who the player is."

The left-hander further iterated that he is happy that the battle has now ended but remarked that trolling a player or teasing them isn't the right thing.

"But the good thing is we saw the fight between Naveen and Virat, which started and has now ended. And all I want to say is, even to the crowd as well, that trolling players on social media or calling them by different names is not a good thing,"

Also, adding that people need to keep this in mind that being an Afghani player, it is a massive thing for Naveen to feature in the IPL.

"When you are representing your team, it is with passion. Also, everyone needs to understand that he (Naveen) was playing his first IPL season, and for someone to come from a country like Afghanistan, it is a big deal."

All well, that ends well, India had a wonderful day as they chased down 273 within 35 overs as skipper Rohit Sharma smashed a fabulous 131. After this win, India will next go and play against their arch-rivals Pakistan on 14th October in Ahmedabad.
