Mayank Yadav set the IPL 2024 on fire with his pacy bullets at over 155 KPH for Lucknow Super Giants before an injury cut short his stint. He won the back-to-back player of the match awards too with three-wicket hauls against Punjab Kings and RCB, and looked like a prospect that could serve Indian cricket with distinction.

He has not played any compeitive cricket since then, but has the pace and skills to succeed at the international level, and many pundits have been backing since the time he has impressed one and all in the IPL 2024.

Mayank Yadav Can Make Difference With Pace

Now, Wasim Jaffer, the former Indian opener has also said that he could be the dark horse for the Border Gavaskar Series later this year with his raw pace. Australian pitches are known for their fast and bouncy nature, and having a bowler with extreme pace like Mayank Yadav can do wonders for India. The pacer from Delhi though has played only one first-class match so far and that is a bit of a worry alongside his fitness.

Along with calling Mayank Yadav, a dark horse, Jaffer in an answer to fan on his official X handle also stated that if Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Siraj all are fit, India have a great chance to score a hat-trick of series win in Australia.

The first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will be played at the Optus Stadium in Perth and is scheduled to start on 22nd of November.
