Mumbai all-rounder Musheer Khan, the younger brother of Sarfaraz Khan, is recovering after suffering a road accident on the outskirts of Lucknow. The 19-year-old cricketer, who made headlines with his stellar performances in domestic cricket, is expected to be out of action for at least three months due to the neck injuries he sustained in the accident.

This unfortunate incident will keep him out of the upcoming Irani Cup and Mumbai’s early matches in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season.

The accident occurred on the Purvanchal Expressway as Musheer and his father, Naushad Khan, travelled from Azamgarh to Lucknow for the Irani Cup. Their car reportedly hit a divider and overturned, causing significant damage. While Musheer Khan sustained severe neck injuries, his father escaped with minor scratches.

Medical Update On Musheer Khan's Neck Injuries

Musheer was immediately taken to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, where he is being treated under the supervision of Dr. Dharmendra Singh. In a statement released by the hospital, Medical Superintendent Dr. Bhola Singh confirmed that Musheer’s condition is stable.

"Cricketer Musheer Khan, injured in a road accident on the Purvanchal Expressway, was brought to the emergency department of Medanta Hospital due to pain in his neck. His treatment is being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Dharmendra Singh. His condition is stable and he is out of danger," Dr. Singh said.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) also released a statement, reassuring fans that Musheer is 'stable', conscious, and well-oriented. However, the all-rounder has sustained a fracture in the neck region and is under close observation.

"Once Musheer is deemed medically fit for travel, he will be flown to Mumbai for further evaluation and additional medical treatment. The timeline for his recovery will be determined following these assessments," the MCA added.

Musheer Khan kicked off the 2024-25 domestic season on a high note, scoring a century for India B against India A in the Duleep Trophy in Bengaluru. His absence from the Irani Cup and the Ranji Trophy’s early stages will undoubtedly impact Mumbai’s plans for the season, as they begin their Ranji campaign on October 11.
