In a heartwarming moment captured on camera during Mumbai Indians’ dominant IPL 2025 victory over Lucknow Super Giants at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday evening, Jasprit Bumrah was seen sharing a warm hug with Mumbai legend Lasith Malinga.

The MI quick was seen sharing a fond moment with the mentor where the mutual respect for each other didn't fade. Both were humble enough to praise each other after Jasprit Bumrah completed a rare milestone after the LSG clash.

When Game Recognises Game! Bumrah Praises Malinga!

As the cameras rolled, Bumrah cheekily pointed towards the lens and said, “They’re making content… He (Malinga) is still better.” To which Malinga smiled and replied, “He (Bumrah) is the best.”

This candid exchange was perfectly captured and was shared over Mumbai Indians' official social media handle which was captioned as "344 wickets in #TATAIPL - 𝗠𝗜 𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦 "

Nevertheless, Bumrah's reference to "He is better" probably was because he overcame him in an elite list. The match saw Bumrah break Lasith Malinga’s 14-year-old record by becoming the first player in the world to take 171 wickets for a single IPL team, Mumbai Indians, further cementing his place in IPL history.

Mumbai Indians’ Victory Comes Alongside Bumrah's Brilliance!

For the unaware, Mumbai Indians cruised to a comprehensive 54-run win over LSG, posting a formidable total of 215/7. The highlight of the evening was Jasprit Bumrah’s sensational bowling performance.

Returning to the attack in the third over, Bumrah made an immediate impact by dismissing in-form opener Aiden Markram early. He finished with outstanding figures of 4 wickets for 22 runs, dismantling LSG’s middle order by removing key batters like David Miller and Abdul Samad.

Meanwhile, though retired from all forms of cricket since 2021, Malinga remains an integral part of the Mumbai Indians setup, mentoring young bowlers and sharing his vast experience. His presence in the camp is invaluable, helping shape the next generation of MI’s pace attack, with Bumrah being the shining example of his legacy carried forward.
