Reflecting on the ongoing World Cup 2023, India's bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey, has spoken about the team's outstanding bowling department, which has consistently unsettled opposing batters and emerged as the standout bowling attack in the tournament.

While he has revealed the secret weapon of Mohammed Siraj in the bowling attack, discussed how Mohammed Shami and Bumrah leverage their experience, he has also spoken about Ravindra Jadeja, the unsung hero of India's bowling attack in the ongoing tournament.

Discussing his impact during a recent interaction with the ICC, Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey stated that Jadeja's influence has been unsung, evident in his contributions to the team over a long period in India.

"He’s not only been doing this right now, he’s been really unsung, he’s gone under the carpet, under the radar. The number of contributions he’s made to the Indian team, for the last many years.”

Ravindra Jadeja has picked up 16 wickets in nine matches at an economy rate of 3.97 and has scored 111 runs in four innings. Talking about his skills and what makes him different from other spinners, here’s what Mhabrey conceded:

"His ability is very simple. Ability to hit the deck, and hit the lengths spot on. Very accurate. Very miserly in terms of the way he goes about his bowling. Doesn’t give anything away to the batsman. Keeps it very simple and that’s the best part about Jaddu [Jadeja].”

“He knows his role; he knows what the team expects out of him. Just keeps it very simple, just keeps it out there. Just tightens up. You want someone to tighten up things, squeeze the runs. Jaddu is there."

The Men in Blue are now gearing up for the semi-final game against New Zealand on November 15 at Wankhede Stadium.
