Several Indian players, along with the support staff, were swarmed by security personnel and fans at the Mumbai Airport as they were making their way into the team bus. Cricketers like Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishan Kishan were among those in attendance; while Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj and team captain Rohit Sharma were among the prominent absentees in the minute-long video, recently circulating around social media.

Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, on the other hand, was accompanied by his wife Rivaba Jadeja alongside his teammates.

Team India, under Rohit Sharma, won each of their nine World Cup 2023 fixtures so far to secure a number one finish by the end of the league stage.

The ‘Men in Blue’ launched their tournament campaign by outclassing Australia, Afghanistan, arch-rivals Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand in five successive clinical run-chases. Thereafter, Sharma’s troops handed comprehensive drubbings to England, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Netherlands upon batting first in the backend of their campaign.

India’s upcoming World Cup 2023 semifinal faceoff against New Zealand is set to be hosted by the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The proceedings will get underway at 2:00 PM IST on Wednesday, November 15.

The two sides also faced each other earlier in the tournament, where Rohit Sharma and co. secured a four-wicket win over the ‘Black Caps’ off the back of a run-chase masterclass from Virat Kohli.
