The T20 World Cup is just round the corner and Rohit Sharma-led team India is gearing up to put their best foot forward. In the light of this, reports suggest that Rohit is likely to retire from the Indian Cricket team post the ICC tournament. However, Yograj Singh has stepped up and quashed these reports as he believes otherwise.

In an interview with News18, Yograj Singh said that he doesn't understand why age is a dictating factor for a player to perform and he also talked about how Rohit Sharma is a great player, who has the skill and grit to play for long. However, he just never thought about fitness and training. Because if he does, the Indian great can play till he is 50.

Here's what he said:

"I've never understood the talk about age. What is wrong if you are fit and performing at 40-45. The age factor should be scrapped, Rohit Sharma is a great player who never thought about fitness and training. If he does, he can play till he is 50."

He even went onto give examples of big stars like Mohinder Amarnath and Garfield Sobers to make his point and said:

“Mohinder Amarnath was 38 years old (33) when he won India the World Cup. He was your Player of the Match in the final. It’s time to get rid of this age-factor from Indian cricket."

Talking about Rohit Sharma's form in IPL 2024, he looked pretty solid at the beginning after his ton vs Chennai Super Kings things, however, in the games after that Rohit has failed to fire with his bat and he would look to bounce back in time as the T20 WC is just three weeks away.
