Rohit Sharma Against Hardik Pandya's T20 WC Selection, Likely To Announce Retirement

In a dramatic revelation by Dainik Jagaran, it has come to light that the selection of star all-rounder Hardik Pandya in India's T20 World Cup squad was influenced by BCCI's pressure.

The apex body sees Pandya as India's next white-ball captain, so it apparently asked the men's selection committee, chaired by Ajit Agarkar, to pick him and also name him Rohit Sharma's deputy for the tournament.

The report also states that both Rohit and Agarkar weren't in favour of Pandya's selection, considering his poor recent form with bat and ball.

Significantly, this World Cup could mark the end of Sharma's illustrious T20I career, as he is strongly considering retirement from the format thereafter.

Since Hardik replaced Rohit as Mumbai Indians captain, things haven't been smooth between the two powerhouses.

While the overseas players have developed a friendly relationship with Pandya, the domestic players still look up to Rohit as their mentor. In such a scenario, the internal rift rumour in the MI camp has become a hot topic this season.

Despite being a gifted cricketer, Rohit Sharma hasn't had a great T20 World Cup career. So, considering the Hitman's age and recent T20 form, his retirement seems to be on the cards at the moment.
