India's disappointing performance against Australia continued as they lost the second T20I match by four wickets. Mitchell Marsh's heroic batting and Josh Hazlewood's incredible bowling effort helped the hosts clinch victory in what seemed like a one-sided game. India could manage to score just 125 runs as the middle order fell apart. Australia chased down the target in 13.2 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav praises Abhishek Sharma
Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav heaped praises on Abhishek Sharma for scoring a blistering half-century against Australia. He was the only player who attacked the bowlers and scored 68 off 37 balls, including eight boundaries and two sixes. The left-handed batter went on to play confident cricket, and the captain looked quite impressed with his batting. He received support from Harshit Rana on the other end, and both players helped India cross the 100-run mark.
"He's been doing this for a while now. He knows his game, knows his identity, and it's good he's not changing it - that's what's brought him success. Hopefully, he sticks with it and plays many more knocks like this for us," said Suryakumar Yadav at the post-match presentation.
Bat really well if we're batting first: Suryakumar Yadav
India's batting was the primary reason for their loss in the match. The middle order failed to score runs, which led to this disappointing performance. Had the scores been a bit high, the pressure would have fallen on the Australian batters. Suryakumar Yadav acknowledged that the batters need to step up in the next games and score runs.
"We need to do the same thing what we did in the first game - bat really well if we're batting first, put nice runs on the board and then come out and defend," he added.
India will play the next match against Australia on November 2 in Hobart. Australia will have an upper edge in the game, but it will be intriguing to see if the Indian team will bring back Arshdeep Singh or continue with Harshit Rana.
