Arguably the greatest cricketer of all time, Virat Kohli holds a special place in the hearts of each Indian. His varied list of admirers includes critics, fans, and colleagues with former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra being one of them.

While kohli had cemented his legacy as one of the finest batters in cricket long back, the obstacles in his quest to remain at the top were second to none.

After scoring runs at his will and dominating world cricket during the first half of the last decade, the former Indian skipper struggled to sustain the flow of runs. Along with the poor numbers piling up, the 35-year-old went through a 1204-day test century drought that ended in March 2023 against Australia.

However, this period of despair was only a matter of time for someone like Kohli, who has mastered that art of cricket.

With a mind-boggling knock against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and a stunning ICC Men's World Cup 2023 campaign, the Dehli boy landed huge blows in the faces of people who had virtually written him off. It is to be noted that his total of 765 runs in last year's World Cup makes him the highest run-getter in a single edition of the tournament.

Focusing on Virat's heroics, Aakash Chopra highlighted in a video shared on his YouTube channel, Virat's ability of making comebacks as one of his most popular traits.

"Last but not the least, the comeback king. You go up but then fall. Everyone has to fall but the important thing is how many times someone can climb back again. He fail once in 2011-12 but then he stood up. After that, he reigned for eight to ten years. There wasn't a blip at all."

The former India opener also mentioned the Covid-19 period as the one which provoked people to write him off.

"That was one blip after which he probably decided - 'Never again'. He played with the commitment continuously but then it came again during COVID, when he wasn't scoring runs. He hadn't scored a century for a long time. He missed quite a few matches and many people had written him off."

With runs flowing in smoothly again, Kohli will now hope to make a big impact in the upcoming test series against England. India is scheduled to play the first test against the three lions on 25th January 2024.
