Veteran cricketer Moeen Ali played an understated role in Jo'burg Super Kings' magnificent win over Pretoria Capitals in Match 13 of the SA20 League 2024 on Saturday (January 20).

The England allrounder delivered his pair of overs at a cost of just 12 runs and then hammered an unbeaten 25 at the fag end of Super Kings' successful run-chase.

Moeen's fluent knock to propel his team past the finish line featured two boundary strokes, one of which was a tremendous maximum hit towards his favourite on-side. The elegant left-hander bludgeoned the ball for an eye-catching 103m six towards square leg off a lovely flick.

Facing a delivery on his pads from around-the-wicket against Capitals seamer Hardus Viljoen, Moeen backed his timing and flicked the ball enormously high in the air towards the square leg region. As the ball sailed over the ropes, the commentators anticipated a massive distance count.

Eventually, the broadcasters measured Moeen's six to have reached 103 meters from the playing surface at the iconic Newlands Stadium in Cape Town. The six was captured perfectly in a clip shared over Twitter by the official SA20 handle.

Moeen's six will remain one of the longest maximums struck during the ongoing edition of the SA20 league even as the tournament's trend of producing great batting surfaces gives batters an upper hand against the bowlers and a chance for them to surpass the English player's tally.

Either way, the earnest cricketer would've been delighted to have contributed to Super Kings' first win of the competition after enduring a disappointing three-match losing streak.

Faf du Plessis' men desperately needed a positive outcome versus the Capitals after fetching just 2 points from a rain-abandoned draw from their first four encounters.

Rejuvenated after a maiden win of the season, they now take on Paarl Royals in their next league game on Wednesday (January 24) in Johannesburg.
