India stars are sweating hard in the nets ahead of the Manchester Test, as the series is on the line. Notably, the visitors are trailing 1-2 in the series, and a defeat in the upcoming Test would shatter the dream of a first series win in England since 2007.

The chances are bleak, given India have never beaten England in Manchester in the history of Test cricket. Further, the visitors are having a bowlers' crisis as Arshdeep Singh suffered a cut to his bowling hand, while there is a doubt over Bumrah's participation because of his workload management.

Kumble's Bold Assessment Of Bumrah's Situation

In the last couple of days, several cricket pundits have opined their views that the right-arm seamer should play the Manchester Test, and the latest to join the bandwagon is former India head coach Anil Kumble.

"I would certainly, if I'm a part of that group, I would certainly push Bumrah to play the next game because that's crucial. If he doesn't play and then you lose the Test match, that's it. Series is done and dusted," Kumble said speaking to Times Of India.

I think Bumrah should play both the Test matches. I know he said, I'm only going to play three. We have a long break after this. You don't need to play the home series. You can take a break if you want. But Bumrah should be playing the next," he added.

Bumrah Expected To Play Manchester Test

While there is no hint or any sort of official comment from the Indian camp, there are reports that the right-arm seamer is available for selection and will play the all-important match at Old Trafford.

Fortunately, for the 31-year-old, there is an eight-day gap between the 3rd and 4th Test, allowing Bumrah to give ample rest to his body and back, in particular.
