The highly-anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 gets underway today at The Oval between arch-rivals India and Australia. Australia qualified for the final by finishing No.1 in the WTC 2021-23 Cycle, while India, who were runners-up in the WTC 2021 Final, ended the current cycle in second position.

Ahead of the WTC Final, former India skipper Virat Kohli has praised Australia's opener David Warner, who the star batter feels will be an 'impact player'. Warner's form in the recent past has not been noteworthy, and calls for him to be dropped from the Test side are rising.

Speaking to ICC Review, Kohli brushed aside Warner's lack of runs and called the Delhi Capitals captain a threat, who can change the flow of the game at any moment.

Here's what Kohli said

"David Warner is an impact player for Australia. When he gets going he can take game away from you pretty quickly. Someone you probably look to get out really quickly, otherwise he can hurt you very early and consistently."

He seems to have this zone, that he just gets into and starts hitting boundaries and does not stop. He does not make many mistakes in that space. He has always played impactful innings for Australia across formats and he is certainly a dangerous player and someone you need to get rid of quickly,"

India will be hopeful that Warner will not regain his lost form at The Oval, where the left-handed batter's record is not that promising.

Warner, who has appeared in 103 Tests for Australia, recently opened up about his retirement plans, which could take place after the Pakistan tour Down Under in early 2024.
