Playing the final of an International Cricket Council (ICC) event is a big thing for any cricketer. India's Shardul Thakur, who has been picked in the squad for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 against Australia, calls this a "once-in-a-lifetime" moment. The WTC Final will take place today at The Oval, where Thakur has twin fifties and played a crucial role in India's win against England in 2021.

Thakur, who has played eight Tests for India, have played three in England and could find himself in the mix in the playing XI if overcast conditions persist. The 31-year-old's track record against Australia is also iconic, where the all-rounder helped India beat the hosts at Gabba in 2021.

As quoted by NDTV, Thakur added that if given an opportunity, he would be eager to make it count.

Here's what Thakur said

"I feel that ICC event, finals especially, you don't get to play them everywhere each and every year, so it's, for a few players or somebody like me, a once-in-a-lifetime moment. All that I want is to make it count.

It's always a special moment when you're representing your country — especially India, when there's a billion people out there who dream of playing for the nation and only the best 15 have been chosen to represent the country,"

Thakur further urged batters to make the most of sunny conditions while batting, as seamers get more assistance under cloud cover.

Overall, in eight Tests, Thakur has scored 254 runs and claimed 27 wickets.
