Vinod Kambli's younger brother, Virendra Kambli, has shared a concerning health update about the former India cricketer. Kambli, a former Indian player, has been dealing with health issues for quite some time and was admitted to the Akruti Hospital in Thane last year for a urinary infection.
Difficult times for Vinod Kambli has health deteriorates
In a conversation on the Vickey Lalwani show, Virendra gave an update on Vinod Kambli's health and stated that he is yet to fully recover from his earlier issues and has difficulty speaking.
"He is at home right now. He is getting stable, but his treatment is on. He is having difficulty speaking. It will take him time to recover. But he is a champion, and he will come back. He will start walking and running, hopefully. I have a lot of faith in him. I hope you can see him back on the ground," said Virendra, as quoted by NDTV.
His brother also urged the fans to pray for the betterment of his brother, who is fighting for his life.
"He underwent rehab for 10 days. He got an entire body check-up done, including brain scans and a urine test. The results were fine; there weren't too many issues, but since he couldn't walk, he was advised to undergo physiotherapy. He still slurs in his speech, but he is getting better. I just want to tell people who pray for him, so that he gets better. He needs your love and support," he added.
Kambli facing financial crisis
Apart from health issues, the ex-Indian cricketer is also facing a financial crisis. Earlier, his wife revealed that she had filed for a divorce back in 2023, but she reversed her decision after looking at Kambli's health.
In April 2025, it was revealed that former India captain Sunil Gavaskar decided to support Kambli. It was learnt that Gavaskar's CHAMPS Foundation, which was launched in 1999 with the mission to help needy former cricketers, will provide monthly assistance of INR 30,000 to Kambli for the rest of his life.
Also, the foundation will provide Kambli with INR 3 Lakh annually for his medical treatment.
