In the latest development, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced that the senior team will travel to Sri Lanka next year for a white-ball series (ODIs and T20Is). The tour comprises three ODIs and as many T20I matches in the subcontinent. The venues for the tour are yet to be finalised.
The ODI series will commence first, with the first game taking place on January 22, and the series will end on January 27. Then, from January 30 onwards, the T20Is will begin, which will serve as preparation for the T20 World Cup in India.
Sri Lanka tour - a final stop before T20 World Cup
Interestingly, the Sri Lanka tour will serve as the final destination for England before the T20 World Cup in India. The marquee event will take place from February onwards, and the T20Is vs Sri Lanka will allow England to acclimatise to the subcontinent conditions.
The pitch behaviour in Sri Lanka will remain the same as Indian conditions, and this would allow the English team to get used to it.
The pitch behaviour in England is different from what the Three Lions would get in India. In England, seamers get more assistance, however, when playing in Asian conditions, spinners come into play, and England batters need to find a way to deal with it.

Expect Pallekele International Stadium, and R Premadasa Stadium as the two venues for the series, since most of the games in Sri Lanka take place here. A win in this series will boost England's confidence for the T20 World Cup.
