England great James Anderson has opened up about his transition from an esteemed international cricketer to a pivotal role as England's bowling mentor.

Anderson, who announced his retirement from international cricket after the first Test against the West Indies at Lord’s, has taken on the role of bowling mentor for the remaining two matches of the Test series.

Speaking to Sky Sports, James Anderson expressed his enthusiasm for his new position.

"It has been an interesting few days," he remarked, reflecting on the emotional experience of his final match at Lord’s followed by stepping into his new role. Anderson described the transition as “relaxing” and mentioned that he is enjoying the change of pace.

"I have known most of the bowlers for many years; it’s nice to just relax and not try to bowl the tail out on a flat one," he added.

The 41-year-old fast bowler retired as the third-highest wicket-taker in Test history, concluding his career with 704 wickets. His retirement came after a standout performance in the first Test, where he took four wickets, becoming the first pacer to reach this milestone.

Anderson's move into coaching is strategically aimed at preparing England's bowling attack for future challenges, including the 2025-26 Ashes series in Australia.
