Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced their first defeat in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) as Gujarat Titans (GT), led by Shubman Gill, emerged victorious with a three-wicket win.

Shubman Gill's outstanding batting performance and Rashid Khan's exceptional finishing skills contributed to this crucial victory. With the win, Gujarat Titans are now placed at the sixth position in the league table.

Rajasthan Royals put up an impressive batting performance, scoring 196/3 with standout contributions from Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag, both scoring fifties.

Given the strong bowling lineup of Rajasthan Royals and the absence of dew in the second innings, they were expected to secure a victory at their home ground.

Despite these factors,  Gujarat Titans showcased a determined effort, led by their captain Shubman Gill's brilliant half-century. The game remained in RR's favor throughout, until Rashid Khan took the game from their hands.

In a thrilling climax, Rashid Khan stepped up for Gujarat Titans, delivering a clutch performance in the last over.  With two runs needed in the final ball bowled by Avesh Khan, Rashid Khan hit a boundary, securing a memorable win for Gujarat Titans.

RR captain Sanju Samson expressed his disappointment in the post game speech.

"Very hard to speak at the moment. Hardest job in the tournament when a captain loses the game and has to tell where the game was lost. When the emotions come down I'll be able to tell clearly. Have to give credit to the Gujarat Titans. That's the beauty of this tournament. Will have to learn and move on. While I was batting I thought something around 180 would've been a fighting score. 196 was a winning score I thought. With no dew, our bowling lineup should've done it. It wasn't easy to go hard at the start of the innings. 197 at Jaipur, without dew, we'll take it any day," Sanju said.

Despite suffering their first loss in the IPL 2024, Rajasthan Royals still maintained their position at the top of the table.

They will now face Punjab Kings, which will take place at the Mullanpur stadium.
