Harbhajan slams Lalit Modi [Source: @goodbroto/x.com]
Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh has lashed out at Lalit Modi for leaking the infamous ‘slapgate’ video from the inaugural IPL season. The former cricketer finally broke his silence after the former IPL commissioner released a never-before-seen footage of the fight between Harbhajan and S Sreesanth.
Modi revealed the footage during a podcast with former Aussie cricketer Michael Clarke. In the footage, Harbhajan delivered a back-handed slap to Sreesanth, and at that time, the broadcaster had to cut to the commercials, and fans only saw footage of Sreesanth in tears.
Harbhajan blasts selfish Lalit Modi for escalating the matter
In the leaked video, after Harbhajan slapped the Kings XI Punjab bowler, he was seen confronting Harbhajan as the two got into a heated argument and players from both teams had to intervene.
Speaking at a Ganesh Chaturthi celebration, Harbhajan condemned Lalit Modi for releasing the video after 18 years.
“The way the video has been leaked is wrong. It shouldn’t have happened. There seems to be a selfish motive behind it. This happened 18 years ago—people had moved on, but now it’s being brought back,” he told Instant Bollywood.
“I feel bad for what happened. We were playing, emotions were high, and mistakes were made. I’ve accepted mine and feel ashamed about it. I’ve always said I made a mistake, and humans do make mistakes. I even prayed to Lord Ganesh to forgive me if I err again,” he added.
Sreesanth's wife slammed Modi via social media post
Not only Harbhajan, but Sreesanth’s wife, Bhuvneshwari, slammed Modi and accused him of cheap publicity through the video leak.
“Shame on you @Lalitkmodi and @Michaelclarkeofficial. You people are not even human to drag up something from 2008 just for your own publicity and views. Both @Sreesanthnair.36 and Harbhajan have long moved on; they are fathers now with children, and yet you try to throw them back into an old wound. Absolutely disgusting, heartless and inhuman,” Bhuvneshwari wrote"
However, the statement didn’t go well with Modi, who responded back with his comments, and claimed to be innocent as he only released the truth in front of the world.
