In the cricket world, every day is eventful, but some also emerge as controversial ones. Indian cricket has seen its share of on-field clashes, yet the infamous “slapgate” incident between Sreesanth and Harbhajan Singh stands out as one of the most unforgettable chapters.
But it took a dramatic turn recently after former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi shared an exclusive clip of the moment. As the video went viral, Sreesanth’s wife lashed out at Modi, calling it “disgusting.”

The IPL unveiled a different side of Indian cricket in 2008, but the inaugural season of the tournament came with a forgettable memory too. During the match between Kings XI Punjab and the Mumbai Indians, the slap moment between Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth is still fresh in fans’ memories. After the match, Harbhajan Singh slapped Sreesanth, and the moment became iconic in a different way.
In a recent podcast with Michael Clarke, former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi shared an exclusive clip of a heated moment that has gone viral. Even though the broadcaster’s camera was shut down, Modi’s personal security camera shot that moment. After the footage stormed social media, Sreesanth’s wife Bhuvneshwari blasted Modi, calling his act “heartless.”
“Shame on you @lalitkmodi and @michaelclarkeofficial. You people are not even human to drag up something from 2008 just for your own cheap publicity and views. Both @sreesanthnair36 and Harbhajan have long moved on, they are fathers now with school-going children, and yet you try to throw them back into an old wound. Absolutely disgusting, heartless, and inhuman,” Sreesanth’s wife wrote.

Bhuvneshwari’s Strong Message To Them
As 17 years passed from that forgettable moment, both players moved on from that. But when the moment was dragged up again, Sreesanth’s wife hit back strongly, reminding that such inhumane acts leave scars their children may still have to answer for.
“@sreesanthnair36 has rebuilt his life with dignity and grace after every hardship he faced. As his wife, and as the mother of his children, it is deeply painful for our family to see this resurface after 18 long years. Families are being forced to relive trauma that was buried decades ago only so you can chase views. This doesn’t just hurt the players, it scars their innocent children who now have to face questions and shame for no fault of theirs,” she wrote.
“You should be sued for doing something so cheap and inhumane. Sreesanth is a man of strength and character, and no video can take that dignity away from him. Fear God before you hurt families and innocent children for your own gain,” she added.
After the incident, Harbhajan Singh faced an eight-match ban, and recently, the former Indian spinner admitted his guilt over the incident.
