Kohli's illustrious career has left a significant mark on the game, and his decision to step away from T20Is has sparked an outpouring of admiration and respect from fans, teammates, and celebrities alike. 

One such special wish was from Wasim Akram. He praised and called  Virat Kohli one of the greatest of all time. His performance in the final match earned him the Player of the Match award which marked a fitting end to his T20I career. 


Wasim Akram Heaps Praises On Kohli's illustrious T20I Career  

In the video, Wasim Akram congratulated India on their T20 World Cup 2024 victory. Wasim hailed Virat for his gritty knock of 76 off 59 balls and said that the way Kohli constructed his innings showed why he was one of the greats of the game.

His knock was crucial in steering India to a competitive total of 176/7, despite the challenges he faced during his innings. 

Akram also praised the Indian team for their unity and ability to overcome adversity, especially in the final stages when South Africa required just 30 runs from the last 5 overs. 

In Kohli's retirement announcement, he expressed his confidence in the next generation of players and emphasised the importance of passing the baton. He acknowledged that his retirement was a known decision, one he would have made regardless of the outcome of the final.
