In a significant achievement, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and the House congratulated cricket skipper Rohit Sharma and the entire Team India on winning T20 World Cup 2024. The 'Men in Blue' delivered a triumphant performance on June 29, as they secured a memorable victory in the marquee tournament.

India lifted the second T20 World Cup at Barbados' Kensington Oval after a gap of 17 years against South Africa. Rohit Sharma has managed to end India's 11-year trophy drought for an ICC Trophy. 


Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Congratulated Team India  

At the beginning of the Lok Sabha sitting, Speaker Om Birla took a moment to wish the Indian Men's cricket team for their win of the ICC T20 World Cup. He extended wishes on behalf of the House and also mentioned team captain Rohit Sharma.

Talking about the match, After winning the toss against South Africa, India scored 176/7 runs and posted a target of 177 runs to chase. With this, India registered the highest-ever total in a T20 World Cup final.

For India, Virat Kohli scored a whopping 76 off 59 runs, while Axar Patel (47) and Shivam Dube (27) contributed some important runs. Virat Kohli registered the highest individual score for India in a T20 World Cup final. 

Under Rohit’s leadership, India became the first team to win the T20 World Cup without losing a single game.  Among Indian captains, MS Dhoni is the second most successful in T20I with 41 wins from 72 matches, while Virat Kohli had 30 wins from 50 outings.
