Yashasvi Jaiswal pounded a majestic double century against England during the second Indian innings at Rajkot. His six-laden knock marked only the third ton of his Test career, and his second double hundred in succession this series.

As the 22-year-old continues to reap in the benefits of his pristine batting talents, former Indian captain and legendary cricketer Anil Kumble urged the youngster to also pursue his “natural leg spin” craft in the remaining matches.

Anil Kumble urges Yashasvi to pursue “natural” talent

Former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble caught up with Yashasvi Jaiswal after hosts pulverised the visiting Englishmen by a record margin at Rajkot. While Kumble praised the young opening batsman for hitting his second successive double hundred this series, the legendary spinner also urged the 22-year-old to pursue his “natural leg spin” talent.

The ex-Indian captain believes that Yashasvi has a natural bowling action and he should not be giving up on this 'other' craft. Kumble also urged the youngster to keep asking captain Rohit Sharma for a few overs, as it is a trade that can come in handy at any point. While speaking with Yashasvi at Jio Cinema, he said:

“Well done on your batting. But one thing that I have seen which I want you to continue as well is that you have a natural leg spin. Yes, and action. So don't give up on that. Because you never know when that will come in handy. Know you've had a back spasm, but when you're working so much on it. Go tell the skipper to give a few overs.”

Interestingly, Yashasvi Jaiswal claimed that he has been bowling in the nets lately, and captain Sharma even instructed him to be prepared to bowl at any point during the third Test match at Rajkot. Jaiswal responded:

“I'm always going and bowling, bowling and bowling. He (Rohit) told me to be ready, and I said yes I am ready.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma will now turn up for Team India in their fourth Test match of the series against England at Ranchi’s JSCA International Complex Stadium. The match will be staged between February 23 and February 27.
