'Full Investigation Into His Mental Health': McClenaghan Brutally Roasts Pakistan's Hasan Raza

image-loji5e7pIndian pacers have been relentless throughout World Cup 2023

Former New Zealand speedster Mitchell McClenaghan delivered a savage yet hilarious jibe at former Pakistan cricketer Hasan Raza's expense following his off-the-cuff remarks about the Indian pace attack's skills in the ICC World Cup 2023.

McClenaghan mocks Raza's take on Indian pacers' World Cup success

McClenaghan's witty reply suggested an "investigation" into Raza's “mental health” after he posited a theory that bordered on the fantastical during a local television segment.

The cricketing world watched in awe as India's fast-bowling trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj tore through opposition line-ups, leaving the prestigious tournament's batsmen in tatters.

But it was Raza's curious suggestion that the International Cricket Council (ICC) might be supplying India with a unique brand of cricket balls that drew McClenaghan's mock concern for his mental well-being.

"He ball should be checked and there should be a debate over it. KL Rahul is taking the balls (behind the stumps) at some height and there is hardness in the ball too. Mohammed Shami took 5 wickets for 18 runs, and Mohammed Siraj took 3 wickets. It doesn't look like international batters are playing. The ball that is pitched ahead seems to be simply vanishing,” said Hasan Raza.

McClenaghan, known for his quick wit both on and off the field, took to Twitter to express his disbelief, wrapping his critique in a layer of humour as he trolled Raza in a way that had the social media platform buzzing.

"Narh is this for real?" he tweeted, chuckling over the idea that professional teams would not all be privy to the same equipment. "He realises everyone picks from the same box of balls after the toss hahaha if this isn’t satire I think there needs to be a full investigation into his mental health."

The incident unfolded after Raza made startling claims about the aerodynamics and composition of the cricket balls handled by the Indian team, following India's crushing defeat of Sri Lanka where the latter was bundled out for a paltry 55 runs.

Raza pointed to the way the ball behaved when wicketkeeper KL Rahul took deliveries and to the lethal effectiveness of Shami, who bagged a stunning five-for in the match.

Meanwhile, the crowd at Wankhede Stadium was earlier left spellbound by India's batting might, with Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Shubman Gill notching up significant half-centuries, propelling India to a commanding total of 357 runs. The subsequent decimation of the Sri Lankan batting order only served to highlight the skill of India's pacers.
