In an emotional turn of events, Indian all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, took to Instagram on Saturday to address his unexpected exit from the ongoing World Cup 2023.

Sidelined by an ankle injury, Hardik's heartfelt message reflected his earnest disappointment at not being able to contribute to the team's journey in the tournament.

Hardik Pandya opens up about World Cup exit on Instagram

Hardik, who has been a crucial player for India, sustained a significant ankle injury during a crucial league match against Bangladesh in Pune. The all-rounder was seen leaving the field in distress, and subsequent swelling meant he could not participate further in the game, sparking concerns about his continuity in the cricketing extravaganza.

As the Indian team continued to battle for the prestigious title, the management made strategic changes, introducing the explosive batsman Suryakumar Yadav to fill the batting void left by the dynamic all-rounder, and replacing Shardul Thakur with the experienced Mohammed Shami to bolster the bowling attack.

In the midst of recovery, there were fleeting hopes that Hardik might return for the team's final league-stage clash with the Netherlands. However, these hopes were dashed as the injury proved more severe, leading to an official request to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for a player replacement.

On Instagram, Hardik shared his sentiments, penning a message that reasonated with fans and supporters worldwide:

"It's tough to come to terms with the fact that I will not be a part of the World Cup as it unfolds further. But I will be there in essence, supporting the Men in Blue every step of the way. Your wishes and support have been overwhelming. The love that has poured in since the injury has been heartwarming. This team is one of a kind, and I have full confidence that they will make us all proud. With all my love, always, HP 🇮🇳," Hardik's message read.

In the wake of Hardik being ruled out of tournament, the event technical committee moved swiftly, approving Prasidh Krishna as a replacement. Prasidh now stands ready to join the fray for India's upcoming encounter against South Africa in Kolkata on Sunday, November 5.

Hardik's absence is undoubtedly a blow to the Indian team's World Cup aspirations. However, the impressive performances of Shami and Surya have ensured that the team is on track in their quest to win the coveted trophy.
