Ex-Indian Star Reveals X-Factor That Could Hinder David Warner's Form Vs England

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that David Warner, the star Australian opener, will continue to perform at his best in the 2023 World Cup match against England unless the law of averages disrupts his flow.

The Australians, with four wins out of six games, are well on their way to the semi-finals, while the defending champions face the risk of elimination, having managed only one win in as many matches.

Australia is set to lock horns with England on Saturday, November 4, at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra said that Warner will enjoy batting at the flat track of Ahmedabad and only the ‘law of average’ can stop him.

Here’s what the cricketer-turned-commentator stated:

"The form with which Travis Head and David Warner are coming, only the law of averages can stop David Warner at the moment, or else he is batting very well and this pitch is extremely flat. Steve Smith has played one or two knocks but it's not been that enjoyable."

The ex-Indian opener also believes that the absence of Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh will be sorely missed, as both were in excellent form before being ruled out of the England match.

"Australia have different problems. There will be some help for spin on this pitch but they have only one spinner left. You will have to get Travis Head to bowl because Glenn Maxwell has also gotten injured. Mitchell Marsh has gone home, don't know when he will be back. They have to make their team from 13 players."

There is a strong likelihood that with Maxwell and Marsh both absent from the game, Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green are expected to be part of Australia's playing XI against England. However, in Chopra's opinion, Australia still maintains a slight advantage, even with their players out of action.
