Former Pakistan cricketer, Basit Ali, who is quite vocal about his views has stated that there is no comparison between Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and Olympic champion, Arshad Nadeem.

Basit Ali asserted that both the athletes are champions in their own right, and are two of the brightest sportsperson in the world.

There is no comparison: Basit Ali insults Babar Azam

While Babar is arguably one of the best cricketers of modern time, Arshad achieved the unthinkable by becoming the first Pakistan javelin thrower to win a Gold medal, a feat he bagged in the Paris Olympics 2024.

When asked who is the greater sportsperson between the two, Basit gave his views, stating that while Babar Azam excels in team-sport, Arshad has put Pakistan on the map through his excellent work in an individual sport. He mentioned that winning an Olympic Gold is far greater achievement than what Babar and his side have done so far.

“Cricket is a different game. But the work that Arshad Nadeem has done for this country will take a lot of years for Babar Azam. Because Babar plays a team game. He does not play an individual game. Arshad plays individually. He got a gold medal alone.”

Arshad Nadeem bagged Pakistan's first medal since the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He defeated arch-rival, Neeraj Chopra, who bagged the coveted Silver Medal in the Olympic games.
