The Super 4 encounter between India and Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 edition witnessed the former notch up a formidable win against arch-rivals last evening.

The rain-marred clash, which ended on the reserve day, witnessed Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Kuldeep Yadav display a clinical show against Pakistan, where both batters scored tons and the bowler claimed a five-wicket haul, respectively.

Kohli registered his 47th ODI century and scored an unbeaten 122* at Colombo, making the night even more special for fans. Kohli, who became the fastest batter to 13,000 ODI runs, was awarded the 'Player of the Match' award, which former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir disagreed with.

As reported by Hindustan Times, Gambhir's comment came during post-match analysis on Star Sports, which also had Deep Dasgupta and Waqar Younis as guests.

The current LSG global mentor picked Yadav as a candidate for the award, who downed Pakistan in their run-chase.

Here's what Gambhir said

"For me, it's Kuldeep Yadav. Can't look beyond him. I know Virat got a hundred KL (Rahul) got a hundred. Rohit (Sharma), Shubman Gill got fifties but on a wicket like this where it was seaming swinging, if someone get five wickets in 8 overs, especially against Pakistan batters, who play spin really well, is a game-changing moment.

I can understand if it was Australia, South Africa or New Zealand because they don't play spin that well. This just shows the quality of the bowler. He beat batters in the air and he beat batters off the wicket as well. Going into the World Cup, that is great for Indian cricket because now you have two attacking pacers upfront and Kuldeep… Three bowlers who can take wickets at any stage of the game,"

Team India will be action today, when they take on Sri Lanka in their second Super 4 encounter.
