Jasprit Bumrah was the hero and grabbed much-deserved attention as he played a crucial role in India's victory against Pakistan in a low-scoring T20 World Cup thriller in New York on Sunday.

The Indian speedster bowled a terrific spell as India edged past Pakistan by 6 runs at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

Chasing a target of 120, Pakistan were solidly placed at 73 for 3 in 12.1 overs, needing a run-a-ball 47, but Bumrah turned the game on its head with some sensational bowling. He finished with figures of 3 for 14 in four overs, playing a key role in restricting Pakistan to 113 for 7 in 20 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah was awarded with the Man of the Match award for his magnificent bowling to restrict Pakistan batters in a nail-biting encounter.

When asked about his today's approach against the Men in Green in the post-match presentation he stated that he wanted to keep things simple and just maintain the line and length and let the pitch do the rest work.

"Yeah, it feels really good. We fell away a little under par and the sun came out. So, we had to be disciplined with the ball in hand and really happy with this win. Try to keep it simple. Just hit the seam as much as I can and let the pitch do the rest. Just focus on my execution. It felt really good. It felt like we were playing in India. The cheer is always appreciated and it gives us energy on the field as well." Bumrah said.

Earlier, Pakistan's pacers were right on the money as they bowled out India for 119 runs. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf were the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan with three wickets each, while Mohammad Amir picked up two wickets.

Rishabh Pant scored 42 runs, but other Indian batters failed to play noticeable knocks after Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bowl first.
